Employment Visa Requirements in Bangladesh

Private sector employers wishing to hire foreign nationals must arrange for employment visas in advance. The following documents are typically required for a work visa, although additional documents may be needed based on the specific application:

Employment Visa

  • Completed application form from the relevant government authority
  • Two passport-sized photographs of the applicant (45mm x 35mm)
  • Photocopy of the applicant's passport
  • Approval letter or recommendation from relevant authorities such as BIDA or BEPZA
  • Copy of the employment letter or an extension of the employment contract, detailing all terms and conditions of employment

Investment Visa

  • Completed application form from the relevant government authority
  • Two passport-sized photographs of the applicant (45mm x 35mm)
  • Photocopy of the applicant's passport
  • Approval letter from the respective ministry, such as BIDA or BEPZA
  • Up-to-date income tax clearance certificate
  • Bangladesh Bank’s permission (for liaison, branch, or representative offices)
  • Declaration of existing employees, including a breakdown of national and foreign personnel, salary, designation, nationality, and date of appointment
  • Encashment certificate for the last two years

All documents submitted by the company must be attested by the Chief Executive of the company, such as the Managing Director, Partner, or Proprietor.

NGO Visa

  • Completed application form from the relevant government authority
  • Two passport-sized photographs of the applicant (45mm x 35mm)
  • Photocopy of the applicant's passport
  • Letter from the concerned NGO, duly attested by the NGO Affairs Bureau
  • Letter of appointment, including the date of joining and full terms and conditions of employment
